Quick answer. Twenty nine topics from June 2026 clear the ISS filter. Six are Very High priority: the Rakhigarhi skeleton study, El Nino and the monsoon, the WPI base year revision with the new Producer Price Index, the June monetary policy review, the NFHS 6 findings, Census 2027 and India and Bangladesh relations. Seven full explainers are linked below, along with a practice test.
June was an unusually productive month for a Statistics candidate. India changed how it measures wholesale prices, released its largest health survey, began the first census in fifteen years and held a policy review that moved every forecast without moving the rate. Four of those are statistics topics, which is not something you can say about most months.

India moved the Wholesale Price Index base year from 2011-12 to 2022-23 and launched a Producer Price Index framework on 15 June 2026. The basket expanded from 697 to 957 items.
The most examinable single item of the month, sitting at the exact meeting point of General Studies, Official Statistics and index numbers.
2. Census 2027
India’s first census in fifteen years, its first fully digital census, and the first decennial census since 1931 to record caste. Outlay of about Rs 11,718 crore. Houselisting began 1 April 2026. It will trigger the next delimitation exercise.
3. NFHS 6 results, 2023-24
Total Fertility Rate steady at 2.0, below the replacement level of 2.1. Stunting down to 29.3 percent. Obesity and caesarean deliveries rising, with a live controversy over dropped indicators.
4. RBI Monetary Policy Committee review, June 2026
Repo held at 5.25 percent, growth forecast cut to 6.6 percent, inflation forecast raised to 5.1 percent, neutral stance retained. A review that changed forecasts without changing the rate tests understanding rather than recall.
5. El Nino, monsoon risk and economic implications
The India Meteorological Department projected the Southwest Monsoon at 92 percent of the Long Period Average amid developing El Nino conditions. El Nino has been asked three times in this paper.
6. Rakhigarhi human skeleton study
Three complete Harappan skeletons transferred from Rakhigarhi to the Anthropological Survey of India for DNA, isotope and bone analysis. DNA of a woman dated about 4,600 years ago showed no Steppe pastoralist ancestry. The Indus Valley Civilization has been asked four times since 2014.
7. India and Bangladesh, the trust deficit
The Ganga Water Treaty of 1996 must be renewed by 31 December 2026, while trade, visas, migration rhetoric and the China factor keep the relationship tense.
