Quick answer. The Reserve Bank of India Services Board recruits Officers in Grade B across three cadres: General, DEPR and DSIM. DSIM is the Statistics cadre, with three papers worth 300 marks plus a 75 mark interview, and 10 vacancies in the 2026 cycle out of 60 total Grade B posts. Selection needs a Master’s degree with 55 percent in Statistics or a related quantitative subject, and the age limit is 21 to 30 years. Starting basic pay is Rs 78,450 per month with initial gross emoluments of roughly Rs 1.55 lakh excluding house rent allowance.
We cover DSIM and DEPR only. The General cadre is a banking aptitude examination with no Statistics in it, and it is not what this site is for.

The 2026 Cycle Calendar
Use this to plan backwards. The 2027 advertisement is expected on a similar calendar.

|---|---|
| Application opens | 29 April 2026 |
| Application closes | 20 May 2026, 6:00 pm |
| Edit window | 2 days after closing |
| DSIM Paper I | 14 June 2026 |
| DSIM Papers II and III | 26 July 2026 |
| Interview | After Paper II and III results |
Your preparation should peak by early June. That is roughly seven months from now if the 2027 cycle follows the same pattern.
Eligibility for DSIM
Any one of these three routes.
Route A. Master’s degree with at least 55 percent in Statistics, Mathematics, Mathematical Statistics, Applied Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Econometrics, Informatics, or a related branch.
Route B. Master’s degree with at least 55 percent in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Big Data Analytics.
Route C. Four year Bachelor’s degree with at least 60 percent in any of the subjects listed above.
For SC, ST and PwBD candidates the requirement drops to 50 percent, where posts are reserved for them.
Route B is the one people miss. A Master’s in Data Science or Machine Learning qualifies you for a Reserve Bank Statistics cadre post. That is a genuine widening of the eligible pool, and it tells you something about how the role has changed.
Desirable, not essential. A doctorate in a related topic is given preference. Research or teaching experience and publications in standard journals count as additional qualification.

Candidates with very high academic or professional qualifications may be granted up to four advance increments at the Bank’s discretion, requested at the interview stage only.
Perquisites include Bank accommodation subject to availability, knowledge updation allowance, free dispensary facility, interest free festival advance, leave fare concession, and loans at concessional rates.
Examination Centres for DSIM and DEPR
Unlike the General cadre, which uses a long list of centres across every state, DSIM and DEPR use a much shorter list, roughly twenty one centre groups nationwide.
Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Mohali, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Ernakulam, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Raipur, each with one or two nearby alternatives.
You choose four preferred centres for each phase separately. Factor travel into your planning, because there may not be a centre in your city.
Two Things That Are Different From Most Examinations
Eligibility is verified only at the interview stage. The Board admits everyone who applies with the correct fee, based on what you declared. If your eligibility fails at that final stage, your candidature is cancelled and you claim no travelling reimbursement. Check your own eligibility carefully rather than assuming an admit card means you qualify.
Marks are published only after the final result. For the General cadre, Phase I marks appear after shortlisting. For DEPR and DSIM, no marks appear at any stage until the final result is declared. You will not know your Paper I score before writing Papers II and III.
